Some Days are Diamonds

My girl Kaitlin got married yesterday. She married another accountant and they're going to have stylish little accountant babies and I can't wait. Her wedding was gorgeous, as was she.

The ladies who inspired that one boy to say that I had the best looking friends of anyone
he knows
It's true. I do. And they are.

And then...
While driving home, I saw some people, heard some music.
Rolled my window down and heard this song.
Oh my gosh. Band of Horses. I thought their concert wasn't til August!
I pulled over and parked.
Walked in and texted Sam. Since he introduced me to them, I figured he'd probably be there.
He was, and it was awesome.

I Love Me Some Sports Advertising

As you may know, I love sports advertising. I love anything Nike and all things Sports Center.
But I think that Nike has finally outdone itself with the
Here's my favorite. (Is it my favorite? I loved them all)
Click on "Play All" and you won't regret it.
Oh, and the Olympics are in TWO DAYS. So that's awesome.

Thanks Sammy for the tip.

The Slightly Abridged Unpublished Blog Posts

The other day my friend M, did something that I'm gonna copy. She posted a bunch of drafts for posts that never got published. In an effort to clean out my posts, I will hereafter post my unposteds (with minor editing).

The Slightly Abridged Unpublished Blog Posts

This week I got my first smart phone. Lest you panic and think I actually paid for it myself, do not be alarmed. My dad got a free upgrade and i got his hand-me-down. It’s actually pretty legit and other than the fact that I keep unintentionally dialing people repeatedly, it has worked out really well for us. I think it has even convinced me to enter a relationship with Dragon dictation in my job in the medical world.

In other news, Jenn gave me about 14 pounds of salt water taffy

Today we had a lunch meeting. They provided lunch, but based on my gluten status, I took some carrots and hummus down to the meeting with me. Naturally, the group asked me what I was eating. I told them it was hummus. A doctor commented that his family buys their hummus at Costco, so it comes "in a 50 pound jar." I told them that I make my own hummus with taco seasoning (It's true. Thanks to Ms. Amanda. I'm happy to share the recipe if you shoot me an email). Said doctor stated, "I didn't know you were domestic."

Awesome. And by awesome, I mean not awesome.

Before I was so gainfully employed, Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I'd catch up on my favorite  sites. Two are web comics and one is full of thank you notes. I'm pleased to inform you that last night I got all caught up on everything I've missed in the last little while. In case, you need something to peruse: Doghouse Diaries is my favorite.

You’re welcome.

Dear Utah Air Quality,
Can you please knock it off? I have a love affair with my bike(s) and you're sort of getting in the way.
Love Liz.

PS I know, you didn't start the fire (so to speak), the lightening did. So I don't blame you, per se.

My new phone has an interesting feature. Whenever I set an alarm for the morning, it says, "Your alarm has been set for 6 hours and 41 minutes from now" or whatever. As you may have noticed, that intentionally says 6 hours. I know, I know, it's not enough sleep. Getting more sleep is part of my upcoming happiness project (details forthcoming). However, I think it would be the coolest if my phone would just say, "Your alarm has been set for 8 hours from now." That way, I would either be getting a nightly 8 hours of sleep, or, I could just think I was going to. And somehow I think that would help me sleep better. And on that note, I have 7 hours and 3 minutes of sleep to get. Sweet dreams. Good night, and good luck, etc...

Josh Ritter

Dear Josh Ritter,
All I want in life is for a boy to look me straight in the face and tell me, "All the other girls here are stars; you are the northern lights. They try to shine in through your curtain; you're too close and too bright." Kathleen is a lucky girl, whoever she is.

Baby Babe

Do you ever wish you had a cheap little bike you could ride around and lock up outside without worrying that it was going to get stolen? Me too. Until last night. Last night I purchased this little beauty off KSL.
I think it's love.

Are You Sure You Want to Do This?

I have this distinct memory that keeps coming to my mind lately. A couple summers back, I was with a boy I know, and I was about to do something I would have regretted. He looked at me with concern but without judgment and said, "Liz. Are you sure you want to do this?" And I stopped. And I thought about it. And I didn't. I don't know if I ever told him what a profound impact that has had on me or how many times I've thought about it, so I'm telling you. There is something to be said for having people around me who keep me grounded and remind me of who I am or who I want to be when I've lost sight of it. If you are or have been one of those people, I salute you. Thanks for keeping future Liz on track.

Songs I'll Never Get Sick Of

Remember this life-changing commercial circa 2005?
Heartbeats came up on my Pandora today and I just had to give it a watch.

Home Run Derby

Are you aware that it's almost time for the Home Run Derby?
In honor of this momentous occasion, I present to you Mr. Josh Hamilton.
As you're aware, I love him.

Organizational Behavior

Last night I had a dream. In my dream, I was heading to the pool to get some quick laps in, but I had to hurry because I was late to an appointment. As I got to the pool, I realized that I had bags and bags of stuff with me as well as a nightstand with top drawer full of stuff. I panicked, wondering how I would fit it all into one of the large lockers, only to find out that the large lockers were all taken. There was a convoluted series of events that are unrelated to this post, and then I ended up thinking, "forget the swimming, I'm taking this all home to organize it."

What does this say about me? Perhaps it has something to do with the bags I brought home on Tuesday night but haven't unpacked yet? Or maybe something about how Merrick told me the other day that he's never seen me not cleaning. Either way, I'm pretty sure it's an omen or something because I just opened xkcd to find this. It has to be fate.

I'm going home to clean my room.
