Shhhhhhh....People are Coloring

My seven year old and I turn out to be kindred spirits. Today I was folding laundry in my room when he came in, made a spot in the bed and started coloring next to me. He said, "I was outside playing the iPad and it was just so noisy. I came in here because it's much more peaceful. Do you want to color with me?" And then he asked if we could make a sign for the door.

He told me we had to use whisper voices and that we should probably leave phones outside so we could keep it peaceful. I asked him if he wanted some music and he said yes.

So for the next two hours we listened to classical music while we colored or worked or cleaned side by side in near silence. It was bliss.

Reading Glasses and Whatnot

I'm officially getting older. I know because it's hard for me to read without these babies.
And I just got my first pair of "actual glasses." They have blue frames. I'm not currently wearing them because how do you glasses wearing folks not feel crazy dizzy every second of the day? Does it get better over time?

Sports bras

Sometimes you workout hard before work and think it won't matter because you just change into scrubs when you get there anyway but then you realize that actually you forgot to bring a regular bra so a sweaty sports bra under clean scrubs it is.

Also, run on sentences and sentence fragments.

It's Ruined

Thanks to Whole30, this tastes terrible now, which is like a blessing in disguise, I guess.

Dash Buddy

This is my new dash buddy, Franklin the turtle. It's love, obviously.

Used bookstores and airport stories

I went to the bookstore on a Sunday. Sometimes I do that when I travel. I have anxiety. What can I say? Used books with the price written just inside on the title page.

I saw What Alice Forgot. Seven dollars. And then on to what I was looking for: The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. And then a copy of The Road by Cormac McCarthy. How do I not own a copy of that book? Well, I guess now I technically own a copy of each of the above books. Thankfully I didn't keep myself on a budget because little could I have suspected that I would get stuck again at Sky Harbor. How many times have I sworn this place off? Sworn off this place? Bid forever farewell to Sky Harbor. You get my drift.

Needless to say it was an oxygen concentrator communicator or something equally necessary and we ended up on a different aircraft. The Storied Life of A.J Fikry had wonderful engaging and flirtatious dialogue. The ambiguity was delicious, as the kitchen magnet says. The twist ending left something to be desired and left the taste of Still Alice in my mouth. The ending of Still Alice was in fact perfect, as it was appropriately placed. Luckily the last page of A.J. turned it around, but still.

All I'm really saying is thank goodness I also purchased What Alice Forgot because the new plane is only just taking off and my phone is going to die.

Landed in Arizona, so naturally, I'm listening to this album. Shout out to Brooke for introducing me.

There's nothing that will make you feel better about stationary biking than doing it while listening to this song:

Well, I'm still obsessed with my dogs, sometimes the boxer even sleeps with me; little man finally got a hair cut (not pictured), and hey, so did I. Additionally, please forgive the green skin tone in the third picture. Yikes.

Winter Nights

When it's freezing outside, I bundle up in bed and turn this on in the background because it's the next best thing to having a fireplace.

Tonight during prayer, little man prayed, "Please bless Liz and Sean that they can talk nice to each other again."

 Liz and Sean. Ha!

Reminds me of the time when I asked him why I'd never seen a picture he took before and he said, "Cause you weren't married to Sean yet."

Hello! Of course that's why! And why would we call him Dad when Sean is so much more logical?

January 4

Well, it's four days into the new year and I had workout dates with 2 friends, both of whom cancelled. This isn't boding well for the state of collective new years resolutions.

New Year's Day

I celebrated New Year's by doing what I do best, wearing stripes, flowers and polka dots while vacuuming out our laundry room which, oh, flooded to bring in the new year. Don't be too jealous of how well I am rocking these leggings.
